Standing in the Clay: The Kono Archive
In the wake of the millennium, the diamond pits of Kono were landscapes of extraction. While the wealth of the earth was removed, the people remained—rooted in the heavy clay of their own history.
Captured on medium format film, this series documents that endurance. The slow, deliberate process of the camera mirrors the physical toll of the mines, allowing for a synergy that moves beyond the "stolen" image. The silver-grained texture of the film captures the dust and the earth, yet the resolve of those left standing in the clay remains the defining record of a nation’s future.
